She uses him; he hasn't any choice. At some point he may become useful to her more as a symbol than as a man - at this point he ought to become somewhat worried.
After all, the movement must go on.

Allow me for a moment to engage in a thought experiment.
Suppose there is an individual who has openly considered, planned, and executed attacks against United States citizens and/or property at some point in the past. Due to these actions this individual is considered to be a target for capture or elimination; the power of the state may be used to seize any of his or her assets.
At some time in the future, perhaps forty years in the future, this individual announces their utter remorse for their previous actions; he or she begs forgiveness from the state, from the families of those they harmed; he or she promises to do all they can in the remainder of their life to atone for their previous actions.
I think that this could be considered the very least that such an individual could do. One expects the United States would at least bring criminal charges; that the families and property holders would have civil damages suits; and this all assuming the attacking individual were not treated as a non-uniformed enemy combatant and summarily shot.
In any event I think it can be agreed that the absolute least that could be expected of such an individual claiming rehabilitation within the structure of civil society is just such an abject apology and a recognition that the best to be hoped for is the mercy of that very society they attempted to destroy.
Without such an action demonstrating at least the stated remorse of such an individual it must be assumed that individual represents the same threat to peaceful society that they represented when first they conceived of, planned, and executed their dreadful attacks. Such an individual demands the state act with all speed to neutralize their ability to further conceive of, plan, or execute attacks.
I present a list of individuals who have conceived, planned, and executed attacks on United States citizens / property and who have done so without the protections afforded uniformed soldiers:
One name stands out on this list, that of Bernardine Dohrn. She alone has been granted a university professorship, teaching law. Why is this? Why has she been granted sanctuary in an academic institution? What separates her from any other terrorist who works to destroy society?
Bernadine Dohrn, William Ayers, and any others like them who have committed acts of terrorism against American citizens or property must be bought to justice. Their failure to demonstrate remorse for their actions, indeed their unrestricted glee at having escaped successful prosecution, shows these individuals to be no less a threat to United States security than any other unrepentant terrorist.
Anyone who has knowingly associated with these individuals in a friendly manner, who also had the ability to know of their status as unrepentant terrorists, must not be trusted to decisions having any relation to the security of the United States.

An American female, black, involved in among many other crimes in support of her terrorist activities the execution of a police officer. A charming woman, likely living in Cuba. Yet another terrorist. - Bernadine Dohrn (Students for a Democratic Society, Weather Underground)
American female involved in the murder and the attempted mass murder of American citizens. Again, a terrorist.

Roland Burris
Roland Burris is the person appointed by Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich to fill the United States Senate seat vacated by BHO. Given the governor's arrest for attempting to sell this same Senate seat one wonders what motivates Mr. Burris to accept this appointment.
After all, wouldn't an honorable man immediately decline such an appointment? Would not an honorable man consider that the attempt in the immediate past by the governor to personally profit by selling a US Senate seat corrupts any future decision relating in any way to that Senate seat?
I argue that Roland Burris, were he an honorable man, would have declined this appointment with prejudice. Instead he vigorously accepts; he shrilly attempts to flick away any suggestion of improper conduct by playing up his being "African-American"; he steeples his hands and presumes intractable superiority.

Let's help Detroit
Detroit has problems - an understatement to be sure, but one to be illustrated most recently by the Detroit Public School system being incapable of supplying such items as toilet paper, light bulbs, and trash bags.
In the spirit of community involvement and general bonhomie I believe I've arrived at an arrangement mutually beneficial to Detroit and one of Seattle's oldest institutions, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper. The P-I, you see, also has problems. They aren't going to make it. Game over.
Famous for always taking the hard road in their approach to journalism, never content to simply report the facts when so much anti-American propaganda is so accessible with a few changed words, the P-I is known also for a staunch environmental outlook; logging, cars, business, indeed people are all representative of the worst evil, a mortal threat to our beloved Gaia.
I propose that the blank newsprint remaining as an inventory overage following closure of Seattle P-I business operations be shipped to Detroit to be used as toilet paper by the Detroit public school system.
It may be a bit rough; I suggest the children soak the newsprint a touch prior to use. Hopefully Detroit won't run out of water soon.
